Welcome

Welcome to iPhone Design, the site’s aim is to provide hints, tips and resources for designing and compiling themes and graphics for the iPhone series. I am no stranger to skinning and theming for Nokia S60 and Sony Ericsson phones, and have only just started theming for the iphone which does require your handset to be jailbroken and have Winterboard installed. Most of the guides you’ll find on the site have been put together with Winterboard in mind. (This site does not include info on HOW TO jailbreak your iPhone)

Installing Themes With Winterboard

I do not know of any other way of installing themes on an iPhone without Winterboard, and of course the phone needs to be jail-broken! Below is a basic guide on the principles of installing themes with this very useful software, it can be installed from Cydia from a Jailbroken iPhone.
Look for an icon similar to this on your Springboard……

Once opened you should be presented with this screen?…………..

Press ‘Select Themes’ and you’ll be presented with a screen similar to the below……………………

You will probably have some different theme names displayed if this is the first time you have themed your iPhone, things like Saurik, User Wallpaper and User Background. these are theme files automatically installed with Winterboard! By clicking to the left of the screen next to your theme will activate said theme and by clicking to the right and holding will enable you to move your theme up or down the structure!
The importance of placing certain items above others is to ensure that certain mods take precedence over others, looking at the image above you will see that the ‘Live Dark Clock’ is uppermost and the reason is because I want that mod to take preference over the clock image used in the ‘Blue Glow’ theme because i use a live clock mod!
